About and privacy

People’s Choice Housing is an independent information and signposting website about housing in England. It is not a law firm, landlord, council, regulator or ombudsman, and it does not give legal advice.

Who runs this website

People’s Choice Housing is run by Mark Goff.

What we collect

This website has no accounts, uploads, adverts or tracking. It does not set cookies or save anything on your device. We do not ask you to send us personal information or case documents, and we cannot accept them.

The Guided help page builds draft letters inside your own browser. What you type is not sent to us or anyone else, and it is gone when you close the page.

If you email us

If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you, because you have asked us to. Please do not send case documents, or details about other people.

Our email is provided by Google (Gmail), which stores the messages for us. We delete emails once we no longer need them to deal with your message, and within 12 months at the latest.

Our website host

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., a company based in the United States. When you open a page, Vercel processes technical information, such as your device’s internet (IP) address, the time and the page requested, so it can deliver the page and keep the service running and secure. We use this only for that purpose, which is our legitimate interest in running a safe website. We do not use these records to identify visitors.

On our free hosting plan we can see these records for about one hour. Vercel may keep some records for longer under its own privacy notice: Vercel privacy notice ↗.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email peopleschoicehousing.help@gmail.com. We will reply in writing within one month.

Complaints about how we use your information

Please tell us first, and we will try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s independent data protection regulator: ICO: make a complaint ↗.

Links to other websites

Links to GOV.UK, Shelter, Citizens Advice, the Housing Ombudsman and other organisations open their own websites. Their privacy notices apply there.

Keeping the information up to date

Housing law and official guidance change. Each page shows when it was last updated. Always check the current official guidance, or get independent advice, before acting.
